About
My name is Allison Wertz and I am a fervent reader, passionate educator, and lifelong learner. I created this website to document my growth throughout my time student teaching. As such, this site will grow and change as I add more teaching artifacts. I grew up in The Woodlands TX and have been on an educational walkabout for the last five years. After graduating high school, I attended the University of Iowa for two years studying nonfiction writing. Through my time in the writing program, I learned a lot about the role of English instruction in crafting identity. I hope to take what I have learned from my formal writing instruction to strengthen student diciplinary literacies. Through my time at The University of Arkansas, I have fallen in love with the empathy and respect that literature fosters. Through my instruction I have seen students learn and grow in their skill level as well as in their character. I have seen the importance of writing in the classroom and proper writing instruction. My daily writing assignments have cultivated a culture of respect and collaboration that I hope to replicate in my future classroom.
